The NAIOP DC | MD REEL Mentorship Program was designed to connect emerging young professionals in commercial real estate with the experience and wisdom of senior leaders through “flash mentoring”.

 

Flash mentoring is a one-time, one-hour meeting that provides a valuable learning opportunity for REEL members; mentors meet with mentees to provide career advice, wisdom on business and personal development issues, and share their experience in the industry. There are no assignments, tasks or deadlines. Each session is a comfortable, topics-based conversation regarding subjects that are important to the mentee.

Participating mentees will have the opportunity to set up multiple meetings with different mentors throughout the duration of the program via our Mentorship Portal.


The 2017 REEL Mentorship Program runs from September 29th, 2017 to April 13th, 2018.


REEL members who are employed full-time in the commercial real estate industry are invited to register to participate as mentees.


Structure

  • Mentors set up their online profile in the Mentorship Portal prior to the start of the program, which includes available meeting dates.
  • Once the program opens, mentees can book their mentoring sessions with any mentors they choose. Mentees are then responsible for contacting their mentors via the provided information to set up the exact details of their flash mentoring meeting. Location and time of the meeting is set up between the mentor and mentee.
  • Mentors and mentees who find value in meeting up again beyond the program are encouraged to do so!

Commitment

  • Mentors are expected to dedicate 5 hours (5 sessions) to the program.
  • Mentees are expected to follow the code of conduct listed on the application.

  • The program is capped to 25 mentees; the first 25 approved applicants will be accepted into the program, so apply early!
  • Mentee applications open September 5th, 2017 and close September 21st, 2017.
    • Late applications will not be accepted.
    • Mentees will be notified of their acceptance by September 18th, 2017.
    • Applicants who are accepted will be sent instructions to pay the $75 program registration fee. Payment must be received by September 20th in order to be eligible to participate.
